ABOUT

Since July 3, 2012, Blessed John's has existed to serve Orange County. We are a community of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter conveniently located in central Orange County near John Wayne Airport.

The Mass is offered according to Divine Worship: The Missal, the Ordinariate Form of the Roman Rite. As a community of the Ordinariate, we participate locally in the larger mission of the Universal Church in the salvation of souls. Our unique contribution to this goal is through our Anglican patrimony, the liturgical, musical, intellectual, and cultural expression of the Catholic faith expressed through the English Catholic tradition. We are particularly missionary-minded and exist to unite non-Catholics with Holy Mother Church, and to help Catholics continue together with us in our own continual conversions.

All Catholics in communion with the See of St. Peter are welcome to receive communion with us if in a state of grace. All others are encouraged to attend our masses and to come forward to receive a priestly blessing and to speak with a priest or deacon about receiving communion as soon as possible.

Ut omnes unum sint | Extra ecclesiam nulla salus

If you are a non-Catholic minister or church leader who is interested in exploring becoming Catholic yourself, with a group of people, or with your congregation via the Ordinariate, please contact our priest confidentially:

EVANGELISM

Blessed John's coordinates Theology on Tap - Orange County (21+), Emmaus Bible Study (adults), and King's Cross (college ministry).

Theology on Tap is a periodic series where speakers come to talk on a variety of topics coupled with a fine beer selection. Emmaus is a periodic Bible Study designed especially for adults. King's Cross are periodic college/post-college young adult nights, featuring talks from speakers that come from the perspective of an in-depth Bible study geared topically. They may also feature a time of Eucharistic Adoration and Confession.

Please check the calendar.

SMALL GROUPS

We have a men's group (League of Ordinary Gentlemen) and a Knights of Columbus council, as well as a women's group (Gianna Club) that meet periodically.

LITURGY

The midweek Masses are short in length and designed for working people, and offered in the Modern Roman Rite (English) by area priests. This is sponsored by the Busch Firm/Queen of Life Chapel.

The 9 O'Clock Masses on Sundays are celebrated according to Divine Worship: The Missal. These are sung with traditional hymnody and short plainchant, and are designed to suit families, especially with small children. These Masses are celebrated *in the style of* the Book of Common Prayer.

The 11 O'Clock Masses on Sundays are also celebrated according to the Divine Worship Missal, but this is our choral Mass. In addition to the same traditional hymnody, the chant is full Gregorian - often in Latin. These Masses are celebrated *in the style of* the English Missal.

MUSIC

The music at Blessed John's is intentionally focuses on the English choral tradition, from both before and after the English schism from Rome. We also feature musical settings from the Continent at our 11AM Sunday Masses.

We have an annual Advent Lessons & Carols Service in addition to special Sung Morning Prayer Services and Choral Evensongs.

Please check the calendar.
